With LocateV3 you can not only find it FAAAAAST you can run it,
view it, listen to it, display it and edit it!

  Changes since 2.0
Menus & Hotkeys. Online help. Multiple databases (for those of
you with removable media devices.) Point & click preferences.
Iconization gadget. Save Output to file. Change databases on
    the fly... and more!

  Why another file search program?

Actually Locate is NOT another search program but a front end for
FIND and UPDATEDB an excellent CLI only search and database duo
    written by Larry Phillips.

With two hard hard drives and 9 partitions it 'was' a royal pain
to search through each and every partion one at a time for a file
I had misplaced. Not to mention that searching all the dirs and
subdirs took what seemed like an eternity!

  Installing LocateV3.1

Simply unarc the file and place the programs in their respective
directories. C: files in C: etc. You may place Locate in any
    Dir you choose.

IMPORTANT- You will need to create a directory named FindDB and
assign FindDB: to it. I suggest you add a line similar to the
    following to your user-startup.

    ASSIGN FindDB: work:FindDB

LocateV3.1 DOES require CanDo.Library to run properly.

IF you are updating from 2.0 keep the following in mind and
    respond accordingly:

Beginning with LocateV3.1 ALL databases should have a unique name.
The name MUST NOT be find.codes! ALL databases MUST be in your
    FindDB: assigned volume.

  Getting Started

BEFORE running Locate you should edit the first line of locate.prefs
    For example:

    dh0: dh1: dh2: dh3: etc. etc.

NOTE each volume must be seperated by a space.

When first run Locate will ask you to select a database to work with.
If this is the first time you are running Locate, click past this, leaving
the file name blank. A new database will be created using the 'default
path' you specified in the first line of the locate.prefs file.
After your first database is created you may change the default
path from within Locate, using the Preferences option.

NOTE: be prepared for a wait. Udating the DataBase can take from 10-20
minutes depending on the number of volumes you include, their size and the
number of directories and files included on/in the volume/partion.

Once the database is created, save it with a descriptive name. The database
MUST be saved to the FindDB: assigned volume.

You now have the FASTEST file/dir search utility I have seen on the Amiga!
And what's more there will be NO NEED TO ENTER A PATH TO SEARCH!!!

To find a file or directory once the database is complete type in
the pattern and click on the LOCATE button you will have an
entire listing of all Directories and Files that contain any or
all of your specified search pattern within 5 seconds!

  KNOWN BUGS

I have had some reports of LOCATE removing the Workbench Pattern when
exiting (ONLY with older model Amiga's and/or OS chips prior to 2.0)
I have found NO reason for this bug and have no intention of buying an
    A500 to check it out.

See online help for detailed button, menu, gadget & preferences
    information.

I hope you enjoy using Locate as much as I have enjoyed working
    on it!

Please address comments and suggestions for improvements on the
    interface to the Author.

ICONS for this program & dir are NEWICONS! IF you don't have the
NEWICONS patch installed they will show up as single pixels on
    your Workbench!
