Its main rule: one web page must never eat all of your RAM. THIS IS A BETA VERSION - it is improved and updated all the time. AmiFire checks for new versions at start (can be turned off) and updates itself with one click. FEATURES -------- * Tabs (also private tabs), address bar with search, back/forward, bookmarks, history, STOP button, address suggestions from history * Start page like a new tab in Firefox: tiles of your favourite sites with their icons (add, move, remove), DuckDuckGo Lite search * HTTP/1.1 with keep-alive and gzip, HTTPS through AmiSSL, cookies, disk cache for images and styles * HTML and CSS: cascade, selectors, floats, positioning (absolute, relative, fixed), flexbox, basic grid, tables, @media, variables, pseudo-elements; passes the Acid2 test * Forms: text fields, buttons, checkboxes, drop-down lists, logins * Built-in image decoders: PNG (also interlaced), WebP (lossy and lossless), GIF (optionally animated), SVG, ICO; JPEG and others through datatypes * Site icons (favicons) on tabs and tiles * Every tab has its own memory limit; background tabs are put to sleep when RAM runs low * Downloads panel, right-click menus, page source view, drop-down and "hamburger" menus of modern web sites * Add-ons, each with its own settings (gear icon): JavaScript (QuickJS, optional), search engines without JavaScript, ad blocker, password manager (encrypted vault) * Firefox themes: built-in gallery (about:themes) with one-click install from addons.mozilla.org, or .xpi files dropped into Themes/ - colours and header pictures, also on 16/32-colour screens * Workbench or own screen (any mode, RTG 16/24 bit or AGA), interface font of your choice * Safe mode and a start log for bug reports * Three interface languages: English, Polish and German * Runs on a 68020, and much faster on 060, PiStorm and emulators REQUIREMENTS ------------ * 68020 or better, AmigaOS 3.1 or newer * TCP/IP stack: Roadshow, AmiTCP or Miami * AmiSSL 5 for https:// pages (almost all of the web today) * 8 MB Fast RAM or more recommended * Images: PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG and ICO are built in; JPEG needs a JPEG datatype (OS 3.2/3.9 or Aminet). INSTALLATION ------------ Copy the AmiFire drawer anywhere on your hard disk and double-click the AmiFire icon. On the first start choose your language on the start page (English is the default). From the Shell: AmiFire start page AmiFire aminet.net open an address straight away AmiFire LATIN2 Polish characters with ISO-8859-2 fonts AmiFire NOCSS NOIMG no styles and images (least memory) AmiFire SCREENMODE choose a screen mode for AmiFire's own screen AmiFire SAFEMODE safe mode: Workbench screen, built-in theme, no site icons, no JavaScript AmiFire DEBUG write PROGDIR:AmiFire.log (for bug reports) SAFEMODE, DEBUG and SCREENMODE also work as tool types of the AmiFire icon. If AmiFire did not finish last time (crash, reset), the next start is in safe mode automatically; the start after that is normal again.
