Short: Quack - easy archive extraction Author: Johannes Naumanen Uploader: xmies live com (Johannes Naumanen) Type: util/arc Version: 1.0 Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 3.2 Quack means Quick UnpACK: a small native archive extractor for AmigaOS 3.2. Double-click a new LHA, LZX, ZIP or TAR archive and Quack extracts it into an adjacent drawer named after the archive, without its extension. Workbench refreshes the open parent window automatically, so the new drawer appears immediately after extraction. No manual Update is needed. The extracted drawer stays closed. Tested on a real Amiga 1200. - Automatic DefIcons setup for future iconless archives. - Compact ReAction progress window with Cancel and a duck mascot in dialogs. - Native Installer icon and RestoreDefaults tool. - Existing destination drawers are preserved. Requires a 68020 or better, AmigaOS 3.2+, ReAction and DefIcons. Also tested on an emulated A1200 with 2 MB Chip RAM and no Fast RAM. Files with their own .info retain their own Default Tool. Show All Files is needed to see iconless archives in Workbench. Restart once after installation, even if DefIcons is already running. This was required on the real A1200 to activate the new archive defaults. Includes unchanged XAD 13.0 TestBuild 3 (68020) and LhA/LZX/Zip/Tar clients. This is an upstream beta runtime. Existing XAD installations are preserved. Quack is MIT-licensed; XAD is GPL/LGPL. License texts are included. Matching complete source: util/arc/quack_src.lha, version 1.0. The separate source download is not needed to install or use Quack. See README-Amiga.txt, SOURCES.txt and VERIFICATION.txt inside the archive.
